Main takeaways from the successful HEAT-INSYDE Workshop at Sustainable Places 2024

HEAT-INSYDE partners presented the latest results through an energy storage workshop session at SUSTAINABLE PLACES 2024, an international event that took place in Luxembourg, from 23 to 25 September 2024.

The HEAT-INSYDE Workshop entitled “A compact and sustainable heat storage solution for clean energy” was held as a in-person event on Tuesday 24th September. The workshop was a resounding success, characterized by a highly engaged audience and dynamic interaction between participants. Our heat storage experts presented the innovative technology behind the HEAT-INSYDE heat battery and its integration with both current and future technologies with the following interventions:

  • “HEAT-INSYDE Project and Introduction to Heat Storage Technology”  Yulia Galagan (TNO)
  • Storage materials – working principle and manufacturing” Henk Huinink (TU/e)
  • “Development of a compact domestic heat storage prototype” Tom Chermin (Cellcius)
  • “Heat Battery implementation in French context, moving bed reactor testing and numerical simulation for battery sizing” Etienne Wurtz and Louison Boulier (CEA )
  • “Implementation of Heat Battery in a residential building in Poland” Agnieszka Łukaszewska (FASADA)
  • Panel discussion (moderated by TNO with inputs of all partners)

Several questions were raised, reflecting a keen interest in the project’s outcomes and methodologies. Both presenters and attendees actively contributed to insightful, constructive discussions that dug deep into the key topics, generating valuable exchanges of ideas and perspectives. Now, all HEAT-INSYDE consortium members and project followers eagerly await the final results from testing three Heat Battery prototypes, which will unlock new possibilities for the developed heat storage technology.

Conducting this workshop at Sustainable Places was a very successful dissemination activity with fruitful discussions with the audience. The event resulted in an ideal opportunity for the dissemination of research and networking between stakeholders and to explore different technologies and renewable energy implementations that increase the rate of innovation.

Stay tuned as the video of the full session will be posted soon!
